3000 miles, 2 men & 1 boat
I was reluctantly separated from my bed at 4am on the 22 December 2012, fortunately for a great cause. An old friend of the Kerfoot family is to soon set out on a journey like no other & as it is an INCREDIBLE journey of course TKG had to be involved…!
In December 2013, Dan Howie & Will North will embark on the greatest challenge of their lives by competing in The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Rowing Race, which is renowned as one of the toughest endurance races on earth. Whilst on this epic journey they will experience sleep deprivation, severe weight loss, sharks, 50ft waves, physical & psychological exhaustion as they row around the clock in 2 hour shifts for the entire race. To add to this, these 2 giants are not just looking to complete the race but in fact set the fastest 2 man crossing of all time.
To put this challenge into perspective, more people have travelled into space, climbed Everest or been to the South Pole than have rowed across the Atlantic Ocean.
To raise funds for the race helping Dan & Will towards their £200k goal for Cancer research, Leukaemia research & St Anna’ Hospice, The Kerfoot Group decided to lay on an event in Northallerton Town Centre on the busiest market day of the year. Dan was to row for 12 hours non stop! Of course Dan nailed the challenge, & the day proved extremely successful raising £1,500. We were delighted with the outcome so thank you Northallerton for such fantastic support.
We will be posting updates on the blog in December 2013, following Dan & Will across the immense Atlantic Ocean. The Kerfoot Group are proud sponsors of the boys & wish them all the best in their training for the big event.
2 men, 1 small boat, 3,000 miles of rowing – nail it boys!
