Phil’s Warriors

On December 9 2016 NPG came together to raise funds for our Local charity of the year….Phil’s Warriors and they did it the only way they know how….with Food!

The usual suspects in the Technical team “pulled” out all the stops and made an array of mouthwatering dishes – Pulled Pork, Pulled Beef and Gammon together with everything you need to make a hot sandwich including superb Crackling, Roast potatoes and Gravy. Of course there were plenty of buns, cakes and biscuits to be eaten and a Raffle to play, and they did just that and raised an Incredible £250.01!!!

Phil’s Warriors is a charity that set up in the memory of Phil Smith who tragically died aged 25, following an accident in April 2015. Phil worked as teaching assistant at Riverside Special School in Goole and was due to start his teaching certificate in September 2015, he hoped to become a special needs teacher. Phil is the brother-in-law of our very own Robbie Rockett and Jared Netherwood and was a keen supporter of charities and participated in many fund raising activities. He also coached young footballers and felt sport could give focus and a sense of achievement to youngsters. We’re proud to have helped in our own way to continue some of the work he started by supporting the charity set up in his name.
