National Chocolate Day………..yummy!
On the 12th August, here at The Kerfoot Group we are celebrating National Chocolate Day – sounds like a fantastic idea to me………..who doesn’t like chocolate! (Eating Nutella from the jar with a spoon is a favourite past time of mine….I definitely fall into the ‘Chocoholic’ category!). So when we decided to celebrate this day I was excited to say the least.
We have been busy preparing for this day, some have baked, some have bought and some have simply shared a favourite recipe including chocolate. Across all our sites we have some chocolate goodies for our employees to sample, whether it be a cake, brownie, hot chocolate or a bar of chocolate, we are sampling it all!
We will also be sharing our favourite recipes across the company letting others in on baking and making secrets. But Chocolate Day does not always excite everyone, for those who are super healthy or watching what they eat, chocolate day can be a temptation they want to resist. So here is a recipe for the best of both worlds – LOW FAT CHOCOLATE BROWNIES, it will cater for those watching what they eat and the chocoholics like me. Enjoy!
130g low-fat margarine
2 large free-range eggs
130g caster sugar
80g self-raising flour
50g cocoa powder, sieved, (you can use drinking chocolate if you wish juts add 25g on top)
75g plain dark chocolate, chopped
Preheat your oven to 180 degrees, and grease your square brownie tin.
You then simply add all the ingredients into a bowl and mix well. The mixture should be a thick, but not too dry. If it appears dry you can add 5-10ml of water and mix again.
Pour the mixture into your greased tin and place in the oven for around 40-45 minutes. You then need to remove from the oven and leave to cool. Do not remove from the tin until completely cooled. You then need to cut into 9 blocks!
