DESCRIPTION

The Logistics Planner is responsible for the routing, planning and scheduling of all deliveries for the Kerfoot Packed and Volume divisions using the available resources inclusive of 12 LGVs and LGV drivers.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES


Q E H&S

• Ensure H&S is the #1 priority and safe practices are upheld by all
• Investigate all Logistics Division Non-Conformances and manage investigations through to resolution
• Compile and feedback statistical information gathered from root cause analysis outcomes
• Identify, manage & report all immediate H&S risks
• Ensure that divisional requirements are met and customer orders are delivered in full
• Gather, prepare and present information for internal and external audits within areas of responsibility
• Perform internal audits and implement corrective actions

People

• Co-ordinate & organise driving team members onto daily jobs and activities
• Monitor activities to ensure that each task is being performed correctly
• Identify and communicate any training requirements / opportunities
• Manage relationships and service levels with 3rd party logistics providers
• Complete absence return to work forms
• Support team member performance reviews
• Out of hours point of contact

Operational tasks

• Plan and schedule daily workloads for KVO and KPO divisions, ensuring all customer requirements and daily outputs are delivered in full
• Utilise routing and scheduling software to maximise the efficiency of the fleet
• Arrange back loads as much possible to return used IBCs for reuse
• Plan and schedule fleet maintenance for all LGV’s and trailers
• Plan and organise resources (drivers, vehicles and trailers) to meet fluctuations in demand
• Ensure Drivers Hours and WTD regulations are adhered to.
• Manage staff training requirements and arrange training course attendance
• Compile and communicate shift and performance reports
• Inform/update colleagues and collaborate on issues and problems

Continuous Improvement

• Encourage the performance of the team, strive for & drive improvement in all aspects
• Initiate & support CI using lean methods to improve H&S, reduce errors/waste and improve efficiency
• Support team members in using CI
• Responsible for maintaining & improving 5-S standards
• Review & develop SOPs
• Gather and employ data and facts to improve performance and eliminate faults/errors

SUPPORTING DIVISION PERFORMANCE

• Understand & support the implementation of site & business strategies and development plans
• Understand customer needs and the importance of associated service & quality levels
• Work in partnership sister departments (commercial, technical, quality, people, maintenance, CI etc)
• Work in a culture that encourages ethical conduct, open communication and commitment to compliance consistent with company values.
• Escalate and assist in investigating all relevant complaints, possible violations or irregularities, taking appropriate action where necessary.
• Be a positive ambassador for the company and site in all situations

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED

• Experience in planning and coordinating multi-drop deliveries (min 1 year)
• Excellent communication skills
• KPI driven with a proven track record of optimisation
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Experience with continuous improvement
• A strong understanding of operator licence requirements (scheduled vehicle maintenance, tachograph compliance etc)
• Experience with Paragon or other similar routing and scheduling software package
• A good working knowledge of other transport and logistics systems e.g. Tachomaster, Fleetboard (vehicle tracking), in cab technology (forward facing cameras, cab-phones / communication devices etc)
• Good computer skills including Microsoft office
• Experience in conflict resolution
• Ability to maintain control in a busy, fast paced working environment
• Good at prioritising and able to delegate when required
