Job Function Responsible for all Technical & Quality aspects for Kerfoot

Location Goole and Northallerton (as tasks & role requires)

Core Responsibilities

  • H&S and wellbeing for team members (proactivity, procedures, culture, incident follow up)
  • Management & leadership of the Technical functions at the Goole sites (QMS, HACCP, NPD, Supplier Assurance, Laboratory, Customer Technical Services)
  • Ensure legal & quality standards and accreditations are maintained in accordance with company & agreed customer requirements
  • Manage technical KPI’s, performance and productivity
  • A collaborative, contributing, positive member of the company management team
  • Lead responsive and proactive technical support for all the commercial divisions
  • Represent Kerfoot in Avril Group activities and best practice sharing
  • Customer & supplier technical contact, representation & lead
  • Customer & supplier auditing. Product & service assurance management
  • Develop & maintain relationships with external parties (e.g. auditing bodies & technical support providers)
  • Ensure all products and internal operations comply with legislative, GMP and customer requirements
  • Internal & external complaint management. Systems, performance reporting and corrective actions
  • Leadership for business, service and product development opportunities and projects
  • Championing and developing the technical and product understanding across the company

 

People

  • Leads by example, with an engaging leadership style and positive team management
  • Encourages ethical conduct and commitment to compliance consistent with Group values
  • Develops and leads for a high performing and self-sufficient team
  • Delivers through the team, effectively delegating, knowing when to be hands on and when to step back

  • Ensure the correct roles and org-structures are in place to deliver short and mid-term objectives
  • Ensure that every team member is competent, trained and working effectively
  • Develop team members through appraisals, Personal-Development-Plans, 1:1 coaching
  • Where appropriate perform disciplinary activities in line with company policy
  • Lead for a positive work-life balance
  • Actively support recruitment and retention activities
  • Take a lead role in cross-site and cross-functional people development activities

 

Leading Technical Division Performance

  • Continually review, adapt and deliver a business aligned and effective technical strategy
  • Ensure thorough, effective and value added communication with all divisions
  • Maintain at a minimum BRC A-grade across all sites
  • Ensure all suppliers and products meet relevant standards
  • Promptly investigate customer issues & complaints and support corrective actions and root cause improvements
  • Stable complaint performance levels with improvement actions initiated and delivered
  • Preparation, review & communication of monthly management performance reports

 

Skills & Experience Required

  • Extensive technical & quality experience in a leadership role
  • Strong & proven track record of delivering technical support
  • In depth BRC knowledge and experience, working knowledge of ISO standards
  • Qualifications & experience in HACCP & FEMAS quality management
  • Excellent leadership & people management skills
  • Experience in health & safety on operational sites
  • Auditing experience & qualification
  • Experience of managing quality systems to comply with the requirements of ethical trading & organic production
  • High levels of literacy, numeracy & PC/systems skills
  • Excellent organisation & time management skills
  • Ability to present to directors & customers
  • Flexibility on working hours
  • Open to travel
  • Knowledge of the edible oils industry
  • Action oriented & able to deal with multiple relationships effectively
  • Creative thinker able to challenge established ways of doing things
  • Excellent networking, interpersonal & relationship building skills
  • Structured, process, methodically minded
  • Understanding of the regulated environment & compliance needs
