Children in Need 2013 – Bare Faced Ladies and the Kerfoot Glamour Girls (or boys!)

It’s no secret that we are a charitable bunch here at The Kerfoot Group and we love nothing more than raising money for good causes, particularly as an excuse to eat cake and be a bit silly! So on Friday 15th November the whole team were thrilled to take part in Children in Need 2014.

There was plenty going on…It goes without saying that Mary (Berry) Robson, Group Receptionist baked one of her delicious cakes using Kerfoot Oils, in the shape of Pudsey Bear of course.

End of an Era….Beginning of a New One!

The 28 March 2013 was a very important day for the Kerfoot Group. With a mixture of sadness & excitement David Kerfoot, our founder, handed the reins of Chief Executive to his daughter Jennifer.

After 33 years at the helm, David will now take a back seat as Chairman & allow Jennifer to steer the business towards the next 33 years…& beyond! David, along with his wife Elizabeth, founded the company in 1980. His passion, determination & willingness to take a risk have

Red Nose Day

The Kerfoot Group celebrated Red Nose Day on Friday 15th March in style!

At our Headquarters, The Olive House in Northallerton, our generous staff donated their spare change & raised a total of £58.81 for Comic Relief. The day’s activities included a Wear Red dress down day, a sweepstake & an amazing red nose cake by Mary “Berry” Robson, Group Receptionist.

Mary used Kerfoot Sunflower oil in her cake & it was so

Sleepout Update

You might have seen our recent blog on Sleeping Rough to raise money to provide temporary accommodation for homeless young people. We wanted to provide an update on these events, as the fundraising has been very successful.

2 charities organise regular “Sleepouts” in the Yorkshire area, SASH and YMCA. Thomas Kerfoot, Commercial Director here at The Kerfoot Group, has now completed two SASH Sleepouts, one in London and one in North Yorkshire. And this year The Kerfoot Group had

Sleeping Rough for Charity

The Kerfoot Group has charitable giving at its core & one extremely important cause that we have supported is homelessness, particularly with young people. SASH (Safe & Sound Homes) is a charity that provides temporary accommodation for homeless young people in the homes of volunteers. Last year they provided 840 nights of accommodation across North Yorkshire & saw a 90% increase in demand for their services.

To raise funds & awareness, SASH organise regular Sleepouts,

3000 miles, 2 men & 1 boat

I was reluctantly separated from my bed at 4am on the 22 December 2012, fortunately for a great cause.  An old friend of the Kerfoot family is to soon set out on a journey like no other & as it is an INCREDIBLE journey of course TKG had to be involved…!

In December 2013, Dan Howie & Will North will embark on the greatest challenge of their lives by competing in The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Rowing Race, which is renowned as one of the toughest endurance races on earth.

More for Macmillan in 2012

During the Christmas period we once again supported Macmillan nurses by having a coffee morning.  We are incredibly lucky to have our tea and coffee provided to us so on Friday 14 December we asked all our employee’s to contribute £1 per cup, or negotiate a bulk deal for the day.  In return we had the option of either a Mince pie, piece of Stollen, or German Ginger bites, all of which I managed  to have donated by some very generous local supermarkets.  There were so many we were

Catwalk Capers

Catwalk Capers is an annual charity event held to raise money on behalf of Yorkshire Cancer Research. Each year in Northallerton there is an incredible response from local companies and organisations who want to get involved with this really special night.

The criteria is simple – dress your team members with clothes purchased from charity shops for less than £25 per outfit.  Each team should have a theme and will be scored on originality and creativity.

So, we at TKG

Another bike ride – this time Abbey Road Tankers

We are very proud to be supporting to a really worthwhile charity, Macmillan Cancer Support, by sponsoring one of our hauliers, Abbey Logistics Group, who are doing a 5 country bike ride and hoping to raise £5000.  Yes, FIVE countries!

On Thursday 13th September a group of 6 people including their Managing Director and two drivers are setting off on a 500 mile bicycle journey from the Cargill factory in Krefeld, Germany.  The journey will take them across 5 countries

I saw the Olympic Torch in Northallerton!

On Wednesday 20th June the Olympic torch visited Northallerton at 10am – people packed the streets to catch a glimpse of the torch on its route to the Olympic stadium.  I decided to witness this once in a life time event for myself, and what an exciting an uplifting experience it turned out to be.  I decided, as with the bulk of the Northallerton people, that I would try and see the torch at the start and end of its journey through the town, and so made my way to the starting point
