Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon – Davie Walker

On Sunday 8 October I finally completed the Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon. Having applied in April it hardly seemed real that it would ever actually happen! I’m pleased to say that I finished in the time that I wanted, but I am far more pleased and also proud to have raised £561 for Macmillan Cancer Support. Thank you to everyone who has sponsored me, during the last few miles the thought of your generous donations helped me to reach the finish line, step by agonising step haha  I’ve

John Thompson Retirement

After over 26 years of dedicated service, John Thompson will be retiring from The Kerfoot Group at the end of this month.

As a well-loved and highly respected Director of The Kerfoot Group it was imperative that we all showed our appreciation for his hard work and commitment to us, and the business, over the years.

So last week at Kerfoot HQ we had a cake and bubbly afternoon to toast John’s achievements and retirement. David Kerfoot (MBE DL) gave a speech, reminiscing on

Bob Grimston Retirement

After 11 years of loyal service working as a HGV driver, Bob Grimston has decided to take the difficult decision to take his retirement from The Kerfoot Group. Bob is a shining example of a quality HGV driver and is a role model among his peers. He has earned this respect by being helpful and understanding but never afraid to have a ‘motivational’ word when required. Bob was always willing to go the extra mile to help out a colleague or a customer and he was always a pleasure speak to.

Training at The Kerfoot Group

This week we’ve been doing lean white belt training in our Goole factories with Mikael Mareschal from the Avril Group’s EOS team (Excellent Operations & Strategy).

The training introduced the basic lean philosophy, and took a closer look at three fundamental tools SIM (short interval management), 5S (sort, set, sweep, standardise, sustain) and SOPs (standard operating procedures). Not only did we learn a lot but practical activities including 5S in our New Potter Grange and

Walking In A Kerfoot Wonderland

Well, it’s that time of year again! It comes but once a year. The nights are drawing in; the high-street stores are full of busy shoppers and children everywhere are writing their wish lists to the jolly man in red.

2015 has been another successful year at The Kerfoot Group and as we edge closer to Christmas and the New Year, the company will be spreading plenty of festive joy to all our customers by launching our new ‘winter’ branded box which has been given a full festive

Connected with Warka is the figure of famous Polish hero Stefan Czarniecki, who bravely

Tapas Time

Visiting the picturesque region of Andalucía for a review of our olive oil supply base provided not only an experience to learn about the technical processes and current markets but an opportunity for an insight into everyday life in Spain.
Approaching, along a winding country lane, a valley of pale stone buildings nestled between steep hillsides of olive groves and treacherous mountains in the distance topped with snow.
Strolling around the quaint traditional Spanish town,

Maintaining the Standards

Here is something to brighten up your week…some of our Production Operatives mucking in with the weekly cleaning routine at our packed oils factory in Goole. Now who doesn’t love to see a man doing housework?!

We are very lucky to have such an INCREDIBLE team of Operatives who take great pride in keeping our factory spick and span. Every Friday they all work together to get the production area sparkling ready for the next week of hard work filling hundreds of vegetable oil

“When the boat comes in…”

Ever wondered where we at The Kerfoot Group get most of our oil from?

Well perhaps surprisingly, the bulk of our edible oils arrive by ship into our terminal in Goole, UK.

This slick operation begins with our Trading Division purchasing oils many months in advance, allowing our Logistics Division ample opportunity to arrange delivery of up to 2500MT of oil in one ship.

The Technical Division then plan around the ‘Laycan’, usually a four day window when the boat is
