On Friday 19th February, Goole & Howdenshire held there 6th Annual Business Excellence Awards, where they recognise and celebrate business excellence in Goole and its surrounding area.
This year it was held again at Goole Academy Conference Centre in association with Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce. Every year local business put forward their nominations and a panel of Judges agree on three finalists and of course the winner of each category. This year the judges were made of representatives from RMS Group Limited, H Walton & Sons, Link Agency and HSBC Bank.
To open the evening, Garrey Haase, Chair of the Awards Committee, gave a warm welcome and a note of thanks to the sponsors, caterers, entrants, attendees and of course the finalists.
The categories that were up for the taking were;
• Innovative Business of the Year
• Charity of the Year
• Customer Service Excellence Award
• New Business of the Year (Established on or after 1st January 2014) Award
• Small Business of the Year (10 employees or under) Award

Those of you who have been following our blog will know that one of our very own Davie Walker was a finalist in the ‘Employee of the Year’ Category which was sponsored by ‘Associated British Ports’ and was up against two other hopefuls; Garath Isle, from Simon Gibson Transport Ltd. And Holly Tyas from The Salon.
Davie works in our Technical Division as our Development Technologist. He was nominated for the award because the contribution he makes at work has a great impact on his colleagues across both the operation and commercial divisions and his high level technical knowledge has positively impacted customers and the day to day operations in the factories.
Due to his work he has ensured the clients get the very most out of the products and he has helped to vastly increase the sales teams’ knowledge.
The evening was attended by 10 Employees of The Kerfoot Group including Davie Walker (Finalist) and his wife Catherine, Anthony Lawrence (Interim Managing Director) and Sarah Stokes (Group HR Manager)
During the course of the evening, there were introductions, speeches, a beautiful three course meal, provided by Kings Catering, the Award Presentation and then finally a closing speech. Entertainment was provided by a local comedian and a prize given to the loudest table!
Unfortunately Davie was not the overall winner of his Category; however The Kerfoot Group are so incredibly proud of his achievements and making it to be a Finalist of the Employee of the Year Award.
A fantastic evening was had by all with a great atmosphere of celebration. If you would like to see some more photos of the evening take a look at the Goole Business Awards website http://goolebusinessawards.co.uk/Back to all news
