Kerfoot Reinforces Workplace Wellbeing Commitment

Supplier of refined and speciality oils for the global food and personal care markets, Kerfoot Group, has completed wellbeing sessions at each of its sites as part of its health and wellbeing agenda.

The sessions, completed with its charity partner Yorkshire Cancer Research, covered sun awareness, with top tips on how to stay safe in the sun, and men’s health, which highlighted the importance of recognising signs and symptoms of prostate and testicular cancers.

Sarah Stokes, HR Director at Kerfoot, said: “The sessions were really well attended, offering people the chance to ask questions about these serious topics, and interact with the Yorkshire Cancer Research team on the day.

“Our people are at the heart of everything we do, so it’s important that we raise awareness to encourage healthy behaviour at work and beyond. It was great to see the team get involved and find out more about the steps we can take to reduce our risk of cancer, including being sun aware, and how to spot cancer warning signs.”

Kerfoot plans to hold further wellbeing days in August and October. The company, which employs over 130 people at sites in Northallerton and Goole in Yorkshire, is working with Yorkshire Cancer Research to improve overall wellbeing in the workplace and help the charity achieve its goal to ensure 2,000 more people survive cancer every year in Yorkshire.

In June, 31 Kerfoot employees took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge, raising over £5,050 for Yorkshire Cancer Research – with funds still coming in.
