Kerfoot takes the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge

Supplier of refined and specialty oils for the global food and personal care markets, Kerfoot Group, has completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge, putting the company well on its way to meeting its £5000 target for Yorkshire Cancer Research.

After several months of training, the event saw 31 employees set off to traverse the three highest peaks in Yorkshire despite extremely challenging weather conditions, climbing a total of 5,200ft. The route ascended Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, each with an equally tough descent. Kerfoot employees completed the 24 miles (38.6km) challenge well under the 12 hour target, with all teams finishing in less than 10 and a half hours.

Sarah Bradley, Chief Executive at Kerfoot Group, said: “I am extremely proud of the effort everyone has put in to fundraise and complete the climb – it was a real team effort. The weather on the day was horrific, with torrential rain and hailstones at times, but it didn’t dampen the team’s spirit or enthusiasm. We were all delighted to support a charity that is so close to our hearts.”

“The fact that 21 team members completed the walk, and well under the 12 hour challenge time despite the truly terrible weather conditions, is an incredible result and an amazing testament to how committed the team is to this fantastic cause.”

In March, Kerfoot Group announced its support of Yorkshire Cancer Research with an annual calendar of events and fundraising. According to Yorkshire Cancer Research, every week 583 people in the county are diagnosed with cancer. Yorkshire residents are unfortunately also more likely to get cancer, and die from it, than most other counties in England. The goal of the charity is that by 2025, at least 2,000 more people in Yorkshire survive cancer each year.
