Private Business Awards 2011

The Kerfoot Group The Kerfoot Team

The Kerfoot Family, along with John Thompson (Group Operations Director) and Anthony Lawrence (Financial Director), were delighted to host a table at The Savoy Hotel for the Private Business Awards on Thursday 8 September. They invited a number of key personnel to the business as their guests and had a very memorable evening celebrating their achievements.

Actress & comedienne Ronni Ancona was the host for the evening and talked enthusiastically about why The Kerfoot Group was in such a highly regarded category.  She said that the performance related bonus scheme, as well as the annual salary benchmarking exercises were developed into this business long before it was seen as more of a commercial requirement.  Ronni went on to say that the numbers speak for themselves, “6% of The Kerfoot Group employees have given more than 20years service to David and Elizabeth, 12% more than 15years and 18% more than 10years.  For a company only 31years old these are statistics to be proud of, especially given the growth and change they have experienced”.

But it appeared, the judging panel particularly favoured the added extras – this is what they felt set The Kerfoot Group apart.  “David and Elizabeth still give Christmas boxes to every employee, with their favourite tipple, vouchers and of course plenty of oil” explained Ronni.  “They put on an all-expenses-paid day for their employees and partners at Thirsk Races in Yorkshire every year and make sure that their families feel as much a part of the business as the employees do”.

Unfortunately The Kerfoot Group narrowly lost out to Arup Ltd, a firm of engineers and technical specialists with over 10,000 employees, for the Employer of the Year accolade, it was very apparent that The Kerfoot Group should be extremely proud of what they had achieved – nominated as one of the top five private business.

However the bar bill was well and truly attacked by The Kerfoot Group team at The Savoy Hotel that evening, “worth every penny” said CEO David Kerfoot.
