Meet the Team Christmas Special – Lauren

What do you love most about Christmas –  The best thing about Christmas is cosy nights in, spending time with family and lots of good food.

Favourite Christmas movie –   Love Actually

Best Christmas present you’ve ever had –  A pink bike when I was about 7.

Favourite Christmas Food –   Mince Pies of course!

What is your Christmas Eve ritual –   A few sneaky drinks in the pub, before going home and relaxing in front of the TV.

The Kerfoot Racers

Here at the Kerfoot Packed Oils Factory in Goole, we have had a lot of new starters recently, so as supervisor I organised for the lads and ladies to go on a competitive team building exercise of Go Karting. On 3rd November we arrived at a warehouse in Pontefract ready to get this “Incredible” team building event on the go.

The racers (myself and 10 of our Production Operatives) were dressed to impress and ready for action! We did our qualifying laps and warmed the

Two men, one morning and a 40 tonne truck!

It was one of the stranger starts to a day I’ve had in a few years! I woke up at 5.30am for a rendezvous with one of our HGV drivers – my guide for the morning was Dave Hodgson and I would be accompanying him on his morning route around the Northeast, delivering our fantastic oils to three Kerfoot Packed Oils clients.

In the Logistics Division at The Kerfoot Group, our day-to-day role is to ensure our oil is delivered to our customers where and when they need it. This

Vegetarian Week

As suppliers of the best quality vegetable oils to customers across the food industry, here at The Kerfoot Group we are always interested in food related events. Last week (from 20th to 26th May 2013) was National Vegetarian Week & being Kerfoot’s only resident vegetarian I felt a duty to write a blog!

The Vegetarian Society organises National Vegetarian Week to promote the benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle. Many vegetarians choose to give up meat through

End of an Era….Beginning of a New One!

The 28 March 2013 was a very important day for the Kerfoot Group. With a mixture of sadness & excitement David Kerfoot, our founder, handed the reins of Chief Executive to his daughter Jennifer.

After 33 years at the helm, David will now take a back seat as Chairman & allow Jennifer to steer the business towards the next 33 years…& beyond! David, along with his wife Elizabeth, founded the company in 1980. His passion, determination & willingness to take a risk have

Sleepout Update

You might have seen our recent blog on Sleeping Rough to raise money to provide temporary accommodation for homeless young people. We wanted to provide an update on these events, as the fundraising has been very successful.

2 charities organise regular “Sleepouts” in the Yorkshire area, SASH and YMCA. Thomas Kerfoot, Commercial Director here at The Kerfoot Group, has now completed two SASH Sleepouts, one in London and one in North Yorkshire. And this year The Kerfoot Group had

Kerfoot’s Heated IBC’s

A perfect solution to temperature control for your precious oils!

Cold mornings are something we all hate, I’m sure you’ll agree?  Oil is no different when it feels the chill – becoming viscous & difficult to manage!

When oils are stored in cold environments the natural waxes present in the oil begin to join together resulting in a cloudy, viscous appearance. The oil will typically whiten but don’t panic… it does not indicate

Sleeping Rough for Charity

The Kerfoot Group has charitable giving at its core & one extremely important cause that we have supported is homelessness, particularly with young people. SASH (Safe & Sound Homes) is a charity that provides temporary accommodation for homeless young people in the homes of volunteers. Last year they provided 840 nights of accommodation across North Yorkshire & saw a 90% increase in demand for their services.

To raise funds & awareness, SASH organise regular Sleepouts,

OIL Systems GO!!

Treasury Team finished off 2012 in our usual no.1 spot… yes, we won the Kerfoot Christmas Quiz for the 3rd consecutive year!  This was the highlight of our year – the quiz proved more tense than dealing with Tropos queries, I can promise you that!

2012 however also saw KSO go LIVE on our new TROPOS system with very little teething problems; with KPO & KBO going live this week we are expecting their transition to be as smooth – all orders flying through

A day in the life of a KPO Production Supervisor

My day starts at 4:15am travelling to work for The Kerfoot Group at their Packed Oils factory on James Street in Goole.  Work starts at 5am on an early shift and as I am preparing in the factory for the day’s production I usually see all the Kerfoot trucks with their “It’s Incredible” logos emblazoned on the sides leaving site to deliver their first orders of the day!

At our Packed Oils factory we mainly concentrate on bulk orders, whether the oil is filled in IBCs
