From the office to the open roads

On Tuesday 28th January, I started my day very differently to the usual. I arrived at Olive House, our Northallerton Head Office at around 8.30am to change into my safety shoes & put on my hi-viz jacket. Today was the day I swapped the desk job to be a passenger with one of our fabulous Kerfoot HGV drivers. My teacher/guide for the day was Bob Grimston. After a quick photo & ensuring I got into the cab ok (as I was thinking HOW will I get up there?!) Bob talked me through what would

Thirsk Race Day

You will remember last month when Summer arrived in Yorkshire on the 19th April, we all got even more excited than we had been while anticipating our Day at the Races – it actually might turn out to be a sunny day on Saturday 20th April!  How lucky we were to wake to a beautiful warm, sunny, still morning.  All the gorgeous hats could be worn without fear of them blowing away and all those beautiful shoes could replace the wellies we all thought we would be

3000 miles, 2 men & 1 boat

I was reluctantly separated from my bed at 4am on the 22 December 2012, fortunately for a great cause.  An old friend of the Kerfoot family is to soon set out on a journey like no other & as it is an INCREDIBLE journey of course TKG had to be involved…!

In December 2013, Dan Howie & Will North will embark on the greatest challenge of their lives by competing in The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Rowing Race, which is renowned as one of the toughest endurance races on earth.

More for Macmillan in 2012

During the Christmas period we once again supported Macmillan nurses by having a coffee morning.  We are incredibly lucky to have our tea and coffee provided to us so on Friday 14 December we asked all our employee’s to contribute £1 per cup, or negotiate a bulk deal for the day.  In return we had the option of either a Mince pie, piece of Stollen, or German Ginger bites, all of which I managed  to have donated by some very generous local supermarkets.  There were so many we were

Meet Ebeneezer Donaldson

And here we have it, our final Christmas blog – & it certainly is one-of-a-kind.  Crispin Donaldson, our Trading Director based at Kerfoot HQ, The Olive House, definitely takes a different approach to our Christmas blog – the capital letters say it all!

Happy Christmas everyone!

So Crispin, what do you love about Christmas?  “DRINKING!”

I saw the Olympic Torch in Northallerton!

On Wednesday 20th June the Olympic torch visited Northallerton at 10am – people packed the streets to catch a glimpse of the torch on its route to the Olympic stadium.  I decided to witness this once in a life time event for myself, and what an exciting an uplifting experience it turned out to be.  I decided, as with the bulk of the Northallerton people, that I would try and see the torch at the start and end of its journey through the town, and so made my way to the starting point

Cycling from Northallerton to Paris

Thomas & Jennifer were at Northallerton Town Hall at 7am yesterday to wave off Tom Schofield, Hamish Marsden, Phillip Birch & Ian Duffus as they began their 600 mile journey to Paris on bicycles!  All from Yorkshire, their objective is to raise £5,000 for The Alzeihmer’s Society, the leading UK care and research charity for people with Alzeihmer’s disease and other dementias, their families and their carers.

They are cycling over 100 miles a day to be at the
