The Finance Assistant plays a crucial role of handling the day to day activities of the Accounting and Finance department.

Core Responsibilities – Purchase ledger

 

  • Registering and processing of supplier invoices and credit notes (including matching to Purchase Orders)
  • Preparing weekly supplier pay runs, paying invoices within supplier payment terms
  • Ensure supplier accounts are maintained correctly and kept up to date
  • Forecasting cash payments
  • Reconciliation of supplier balances
  • Processing credit card and staff expenses
  • Monitoring of the Finance in-box

 

Supporting – Sales Ledger processes

 

  • Process and allocate cash receipts including forecasting cash receipts for the weekly Cash Flow Forecast
  • Review which sales orders can be released for despatch and communicate this to the relevant teams (daily Money List)
  • Credit control, including chasing and collecting monies due from customers
  • New customer set up and review of credit terms
  • Processes risk reviews, including assessing credit checks and credit insurance cover
  • Deal with NCRs (Non Conformance Reports) and customer queries in relation to these
  • Producing Customer invoices and credit notes

 

Other adhoc work as required to support the Finance function.

Skills & Experience Required

 

  • Accuracy and meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other computer systems and databases
  • Ability to use initiative to organise themselves and others to ensure deadlines are met
  • A flexible team player with the ability to work proactively
